Grim Reaper Activity

On Tuesday, November 18th, the RVHS FFA and JCYC organizations partnered to host a Grim Reaper activity at RVHS. The goal of the event was to highlight the serious impact underage drinking and impaired driving have on individuals, families, and communities.

Every 33 minutes, someone loses their life in an impaired driving crash. To help students visualize this reality, the 'Grim Reaper' visited classrooms throughout the morning, silently selecting students to represent lives lost. Each selected student had their face painted white to symbolize that they had “died” due to impaired driving and remained silent for the rest of the morning.

Students were encouraged to treat the activity with respect, especially since members of our school community have personally lost loved ones to impaired driving. During seminar, an assembly was held to honor those victims. FFA and JCYC members shared statistics about impaired and drunk driving and presented a powerful video depicting a tragic teenage car crash that claimed multiple lives.
