In the 8th Grade Military History elective taught by Dr. Bliss, students were divided into groups to play the military strategy game Risk. The purpose of this activity was to apply the strategic concepts and lessons they had studied throughout the course. This hands-on exercise provided a fun and engaging way for students to practice real-world military strategy and decision-making. The game is designed to create:
1) Strategic thinking and military planning,
2) Reinforce geographical understanding,
3) Awareness that decisions have consequences,
4) Encourage students to take risks,
5) Critical thinking and anticipation.
The students had an enjoyable time today and will continue to play the game into the early part of next week!
