RVHS Power Hour

Every Wednesday during seminar, Royal Valley High School students who maintain good academic standing are rewarded with a unique opportunity called Power Hour. Eligible students have a variety of activities to attend such as visiting friends while getting coffee in the commons, play games in the gym or occasionally outside if the weather is nice, or even play Bingo in the library.

The Power Hour concept was introduced to RVHS last winter, inspired by a successful program at Perry-Lecompton High School.

"Our school was looking for a new way to reward students throughout the week. So far it has seemed to have a positive impact on the students and helps motivate them to stay on top of their grades," said RVHS Principal, Mrs. Geis.

Senior, Nalanie Kesler, says, "I really like Power Hour because when school gets stressful and I just need a break in the day, I can hangout with friends or have a quiet place to study if I need to work.”
