Students in Mrs. DelToro’s class completed a lesson on “Keys To Cooperation”. There were 2 groups of 5 students; each group was assigned specific roles. The task was to build a pencil tower in 1 minute using 20 pencils, then 45 seconds, and finally 35 seconds. Each time each different group built their tower, one group was just a second or 2 quicker than the next group.
After building the tower the students discussed:
1) What were the 5 group roles? (leader, reporter, timekeeper, member, collector)
2) What were the keys to cooperation in your group in order to complete the pencil tower?
3) How might we use these keys to cooperation in other areas of our lives?
The students had fun and were very engaged in the activity and the discussion as well!!
