RVMS 7th grade social studies students had a chance to match artifact clues (images) with words (Kansas History Unit Titles) during a hands-on lesson in how historians "do" history by asking questions, finding evidence, and making conclusions based on their findings.
Students learn multiple units about Kansas history, like “Claim evidence, reasoning, for their history, government.”,“social studies state assessments projects” and a shorter unit being “Veterans Day Celebration.”
Mrs. DelToro, 7th and 8th grade history teacher, said,“7th and 8th grade students ARE REALLY CREATIVE!! They like hands-on projects, and I do too because they are learning and sometimes don’t realize they are!!”
The room gets chaotic when doing these projects and activities. Students enjoy digging into games and projects while learning about Kansas history.
“I like to find those nuggets that are important to teach my students that might not be thought about, those out of the box history facts that make us circle back to why that event happened, and why it is still relevant today,” Mrs. DelToro said.
