Roar Room

This school year Royal Valley Elementary School has implemented a Roar Room to help students regulate their emotions.

The RVES staff has been working for the past 3 years researching brain-based learning and visiting other schools to create the Roar Room.

RVES Counselor, Mrs. Boucher said, “We noticed that sometimes kids have trouble regulating their emotions just like the rest of us do, so we wanted to give them an outlet of somewhere they could go to calm down.”

The Roar Room has areas for the students to use, such as a move area, clam area, and focus area. Students are encouraged to try some of the focus activities to get their brain ready to learn when they return to their classrooms.

“This is open to everybody, and we just remind them it's okay to feel big feelings but we just need to choose how we handle those big feelings,” said Mrs. Boucher.
