On Thursday, April 2nd, the kitchen staff partnered with the 1st graders to host a Senior Citizen Luncheon. This Easter themed event featured a delicious meal of ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, pistachio salad, a roll, and dessert.
The 1st graders added a special touch by decorating gift bags filled with coffee cake made by Mrs. Troxel, along with cookies and candy. They also performed a song for the senior guests, making the event even more memorable. After lunch and the performances, everyone enjoyed a lively and competitive game of bingo!
Royal Valley Food Service Director Lindsey Bailey shared, “We host this event twice a year, once for Easter and once for Thanksgiving. We aim to bring the community into the school, showcase what our students are doing, and provide meaningful interaction for our senior citizens.”
Beautiful succulents, donated by the FFA chapter, were used as decorations and later gifted to the guests to take home. Overall, the luncheon was a wonderful example of community involvement and was enjoyed by all who attended!
