Each year, Spanish classes take part in the exciting Locura de Marzo bracket challenge. In this global competition, 17 songs go head-to-head, with students from around the world casting their votes. This year alone, more than 225,000 students from over 1,300 schools participated, representing 14 countries and 49 U.S. states.
Over several weeks, students explored each song—learning about the lyrics, culture, and meaning—before voting for their favorites. The competition culminates in a highly anticipated final reveal video created by Señor Ashby, the organizer of the tournament. This year’s winning song was “Music Sessions, Vol. 0/66” by Daddy Yankee.
Overall, Locura de Marzo continues to be a favorite tradition among students!
Elizabeth Hopkins shared, “I liked all of the songs! Music is my favorite thing in life, and adding a whole other language really broadened my horizons!”
Across all Spanish classes, the top performers in this year’s Locura de Marzo challenge are:
1st Place (25 points): Gage Schultz
2nd Place (24 points): Ella Rawlings
Tied for 3rd Place (20 points each): Cyrus Harding and Isabelle Mertell
