RVHS JCYC / SAFE kicked off its first meeting of the school year on September 9 in the library, led by advisor Mrs. Wick, who also serves as the school’s Library Manager. Students began the meeting by challenging others in a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, and then they got to enjoy a cookie! Senior Isabella Wheeler shared her excitement, saying, “I am most excited for the Green Out game at Holton. All the clubs are making baskets, and it should be a great way to show support for our community.”
During the meeting, members brainstormed ideas for upcoming events and activities. A key focus was Red Ribbon Week, the national campaign that raises awareness about alcohol, tobacco, and drug prevention. Students discussed creative ways the school could participate in the campaign and promote healthy choices among their peers.
The club also began planning a Green Basket Project to support mental health awareness—an initiative designed to highlight the importance of self-care and building a supportive community. With fresh ideas and strong enthusiasm, JCYC is looking forward to a year full of meaningful activities and opportunities to make a positive impact at school and beyond.
